We're all going through a tough time where we're forced to stay home. It can be really difficult to focus on our work during this period when we are concerned about our own health or the health of our loved ones. This situation can inevitably cause a loss of motivation in us. But time is passing and there are always ways to turn crisis into opportunity. This time we stay at home is quite ideal for improving ourselves. Deep learning, game development, or Android software... Now is the perfect time to learn what you wanted to learn but couldn't allocate time for! If you blame the loss of motivation like me, I want to share my own method with you. Generally, watching a movie or reading a book about a topic tends to shake me up and help me regain my lost motivation. That's why I wanted to suggest 5 series/movies about software for you. Enjoy and stay healthy...

  1. Social Network

One of my favorite movies from my favorite director, David Fincher… (The first one is of course Fight Club) The film oscillates between the establishment of Facebook from scratch and the legal problems Mark Zuckerberg faced after Facebook was founded. Seeing an idea that arose from one moment of drunken frustration and fun turning into an application that changes the lives of millions is truly fascinating. Also, the film is far from being just a classic success story and is quite realistic. You can see the rises and falls within the film. The fact that Mark Zuckerberg is not portrayed as a perfect person and his negative aspects are also touched on makes the film quite realistic.

Of course, as a success story, it also provides the necessary motivation for us, software developers. (Even the idea of developing software with friends in Los Angeles is enough to motivate people, I think)

  1. The Imitation Game

You must have heard of Alan Turing. For those who have not heard; Alan Turing is considered the founder of computer science. During World War II, he played an important role in breaking German enigmas with a machine called Turing machine. This biographical film tells exactly the process I just mentioned. Even though I gave a little spoiler, the film still contains many surprises.

  1. Mr. Robot

First of all, let me mention that Mr. Robot is a series. But it's a series that can outperform many movies with its cinematography. Our character named Elliot Anderson has a monotonous life like all of us, but he is a cybersecurity expert with a troubled past who hacks at night. I would summarize the series as his struggle with the dirty works of ECorp (Evil Corp), a company you can't ignore its similarity with a real-life company like everyone else. But the series is much more than that. A quality production where Rami Malek shines as an actor, carrying influences from many cult works.

  1. Silicon Valley

The second recommendation is not a film but a series... but it's not as serious as Mr. Robot. It is a comedy series. The life of Richard Hendricks, working in a software company, suddenly changes when he discovers a revolutionary compression algorithm. Should he sell this brilliant idea or should he become a company and challenge the other Silicon Valley giants? We recommend not to miss the answer to this and much humor.

  1.  Pirates of Silicon Valley

Perhaps one of the least known but most solid productions on the list...

This film tells the story of how today's tech giants Microsoft and Apple designed personal computers. Of course, when you say Microsoft and Apple, one cannot fail to mention the rivalry between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs :) It is still my favorite among Steve Jobs films.
